Bitwarden Importer Tool

The Bitwarden importer tool makes it easy to move your passwords and other information from another service to Bitwarden. The Bitwarden importer tool is compatible with:

  • LastPass: Import directly from LastPass. If you're importing on behalf of your business, we recommend using the credentials of a LastPass admin. Using super admin credentials may cause import to fail.

note

The Bitwarden importer will import information into your individual vault. Once the information has been imported, you can manually move items to be shared in an organization.

Download

To get started, you can download the Bitwarden importer tool from Github. Select the best install option for your system:

  • Select the .msix option for the installation wizard.

  • Select the .pkg option for the installation wizard.

  • Select the .zip option for only the application.

note

Depending on your security settings, MacOS users may receive a warning that is preventing the download. See Apple's documentation for additional security settings information.

Setup

Once installed, open the Bitwarden importer tool to view a window you'll setup some configuration options on. There are two options for authenticating:

  • Using your email and master password: This option will work for accounts that use an authenticator app, YubiKey, or email for two-step login, or for accounts not using two-step login.

  • Using your API keys: This option will work regardless of which two-step login option you use for your account.
